The late Dr. F.P. Patterson, founder and longtime Head of UBC and VGH Orthopaedics, was inducted into the Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) Medical Staff Hall of Honour in a ceremony on October 18, 2021. Dr. Patterson was a dynamic person and well known in orthopaedics around the world. He served as Head for more than 20 years. Very few clinical faculty members have been honoured with an honorary degree from UBC: he was one of them.
The ceremony was primarily online with some in-person attendance. Dr. Meek presented the story of Dr. Patterson for the audience.
The VCH Medical Staff Hall of Honour was established to recognize those whose exceptional leadership, clinical and academic service have profoundly benefited the residents of British Columbia and who, in so doing, have brought great distinction to VGH and its institutions.
