About:

The fellowship experience will include every aspect of elective adult and paediatric orthopaedic oncology in a busy cancer care center that attracts a large volume of complex problems. Fellows will operate in four hospitals: BC Cancer Agency (BCCA), BC Children’s Hospital (BCCH), Vancouver General Hospital (VGH) and UBC Hospital (UBCH), as well as within three clinic settings at BCCA, BCCH and VGH’s Diamond Health Care Center. Fellows will have the opportunity to work hands on with two main mentors during their diverse training experiences.

Requirements:

Fellows are expected to be active in research and should come prepared with ideas for publications. Involvement in research, with presentation and publication, is mandatory. Fellows will be required to participate in resident teaching activities inside and out of the operating room, including education rounds. Fellows have on-call duties for a week at a time, shared equally with fellows in arthroplasty and lower limb reconstruction, totaling approximately 1 in 4 weeks.

Goals & Objectives:

This clinical fellowship position is designed to give the applicant enhanced surgical and clinical expertise in the following areas:

  • High-volume surgical experience in simple and complex adult and paediatric oncology
  • Active participation in research with publication and presentation
  • Active participation in resident teaching

We are the provincial centre for adult and paediatric orthopaedic oncology and provide diverse experience for complex cases, including high-volume surgical experience in four hospitals.
