COMPREHENSIVE ORTHOPAEDICS DIVISION HEAD

The Division of Comprehensive Orthopaedics arose from the need to integrate the population of orthopaedic surgeons who mostly reside and practice outside of the major centres of British Columbia.

Orthopaedic surgeons within the division generally practice in the community setting and deal with all aspects of orthopaedics including incoming trauma. Many of our division members also have sub-specialty interests. The distributed medical education programs within the UBC Department of Orthopaedics include the Northern Medical Program, the Island Medical Program, and the Southern Medical Program. Since the students from these sites are situated throughout the province, a great deal of their learning takes place in the peripheral centres and relies on the clinical faculty members of the Division of Comprehensive Orthopaedics. Orthopaedic groups from other centres throughout BC also regularly contribute to the education of medical students and residents.
