Dr. Raphaële Charest-Morin Awarded VCH Investigator Award
We are proud to announce that UBC Orthopaedics Assistant Professor Dr. Raphaële Charest-Morin has been awarded one of five 2023 Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute Investigator Awards as a Clinician Scientist. This award recognizes Dr. Charest-Morin’s research on whole exome sequencing (WES) technology to assess completeness of primary bone tumour removal in the spine.

A new technique developed by UBC Orthopaedics Assistant Professor, Dr. Babak Shadgan, can help clinicians monitor vital signs in patients recovering from respiratory diseases using a wearable near-infrared spectroscopy sensor.

In Memoriam – Dr. Kenneth Brown
Dr. Kenneth Brown passed away on March 20, 2023. He left a successful adult and paediatric tumour practice in Montreal to join the group at BC Children’s Hospital in the early 1990s, becoming a Clinical Lecturer in 1993.
