
We are proud to share that Dr. Brian Day has been awarded the prestigious King Charles III Coronation Medal. This honor recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities or achieved outstanding accomplishments abroad that bring credit to Canada.
Canadian Senator Don Plett presented the medal to Dr. Day during a ceremony held in downtown Vancouver in January 2025.
Dr. Day’s extraordinary career exemplifies excellence in orthopaedics and healthcare innovation. Graduating in medicine from the University of Manchester, he later completed orthopaedic training at UBC and has since gained recognition for his expertise in sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery.
A trailblazer in his field, Dr. Day was elected President of the Arthroscopy Association of North America, making him only the second Canadian to hold this prestigious position. He also made history as the first orthopaedic surgeon inducted into the BC Sports Hall of Fame. Recently, he was recognized with the rare honour of Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians of London.
Dr. Day’s legacy encompasses numerous contributions to orthopaedic research, education, and patient care. He pioneered advanced surgical techniques in Canada and treated elite athletes and dignitaries worldwide. His global impact is profound.
