UBC Orthopaedics Welcomes Dr. Andrea Veljkovic and Dr. Adrian Huang to Leadership Roles

The UBC Department of Orthopaedics is delighted to welcome Dr. Andrea Veljkovic and Dr. Adrian Huang, two of our current faculty members, to take on leadership roles within our Department. Guided by our shared vision of “pain-free mobility for all“, the Department continues its journey toward becoming a global center of excellence.  


Dr. Andrea Veljkovic, Clinical Associate Professor, assumes the role of Director of Fellowships for the Department of Orthopaedics. Andrea is an orthopaedic surgeon with an established track record of excellence in clinical and academic orthopaedics at St. Paul’s Hospital. Andrea is passionate about quality patient care and evidence-based medicine, which has been the guiding principle of her practice. A strong collaborator with excellent interpersonal skills, Andrea has worked diligently to foster multidisciplinary team building and has devoted a significant part of her career thus far to fellowship development. As member of multiple committees at UBC and St. Paul’s hospital, she has a strong background in medical administration and research. She has been the UBC Residency Research Director for 8 years and managed the UBC Adult Foot and Ankle Reconstruction Fellowship Program as Director for 7 years. Andrea will work closely with our Division Heads, their respective Fellowship Directors, along with our educational leads.

Dr. Adrian Huang, Clinical Assistant Professor, assumes the role of Director of Continuing Medical Education/Continuing Professional Development for the Department of Orthopaedics.
Adrian is passionate about medical education and has a unique specialized skillset in promoting medical education. Adrian has demonstrated excellence in CME/CPD through online communication platforms, experience in planning and presenting at CPD events, and success as a medical educator and leader. He has been able to create an engaged community of surgeons and medical trainees interested in medical education on social platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube (@scrubbedout), with a worldwide audience ranging from the Americas to Europe and Asia. As Director of CME/CPD Adrian will be able to use this expertise to help broaden our Department’s scope and influence. Adrian will work closely with our Division Heads, educational leads, UBC CMD/CPD, the BC Orthopaedic Association and our other stakeholder groups to develop and implement a CME program that meets the needs of our province-wide Department and truly bring our brand and knowledge from local to global.
