Dr. Dena Shahriari Receives CFI JELF Award for Research in Implantable Smart Biomaterials and Sensors

We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Dena Shahriari, Assistant Professor at UBC Orthopaedics, has been awarded by the Canada Foundation for Innovation’s (CFI) John R. Evans Leaders Fund (JELF). This prestigious award will support Dr. Shahriari’s cutting-edge research into implantable smart biomaterials and sensors, enabling the development of new technologies to improve patient care and outcomes.

As the Principal Investigator of the BioAugmentative Interfaces Laboratory, Dr. Shahriari’s groundbreaking work is transforming how medical devices interact with the body. Her work focuses on developing a neural interface for amputated limbs, aimed at improving the functionality and sensory feedback of prosthetic devices.
