She co-leads the innovative Walk Tall Research Program at BC Children’s Hospital and led the development of LIMB-Q Kids, a validated patient-reported outcome measure (PROM) for children with lower limb differences.

Dr. Brian Kwon receives UBC’s premier award for research: The Jacob Biely Faculty Research Prize
Dr. Brian Kwon has been awarded the prestigious Jacob Biely Faculty Research Prize in recognition of his outstanding contributions as a surgeon-scientist to advancements in spinal cord injury (SCI) research. Dr. Kwon is the first recipient of this award from the Department of Orthopaedics and the seventh from the Faculty of Medicine.

A study led by Dr. Babak Shadgan at Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute explored how blood flow restriction (BFR) exercise can help individuals with spinal cord injuries (SCI) build muscle strength using lighter weights. The method, commonly used by athletes, was tested on 10 SCI participants over an eight-week period.
