Under the auspices of the UBC Department of Orthopaedics Summer Student Research Program, we are pleased to introduce the Beauchamp Summer Student Research Award, to be awarded annually to one aspiring surgeon scientist or aspiring orthopaedic research scientist performing a research project within the Division of Pediatrics, Department of Orthopaedics, UBC.
About the Award
The award is named after Dr. Rick Beauchamp, in honour of his passionate contributions to the Division of Pediatric Orthopaedics
and years of service. The award will be for $2500, with funds supporting student stipends, research overhead costs and/or conference participation. The successful applicant will be required to present their research at the annual Orthopaedic Undergraduate Medical Education (UGME) Fall Research Forum, and mentors may be requested to be a UGME Forum judge.
Submitting a Proposal
Brief project proposals should be submitted to Division Head Dr. Tony Cooper (anthony.cooper@cw.bc.ca), UGME Director Dr. Lise Leveille (LLeveille@cw.bc.ca), and Research Director Dr. Emily Schaeffer (emily.schaeffer@cw.bc.ca). Proposals should include the project title, project purpose, rationale and methodology, as well as the expected role of the student in the project. Proposals will be blinded to mentor and student, and then evaluated by the award’s namesake, Dr. Rick Beauchamp.
