How long have you worked in the Department/UBC?
I began my journey at UBC in January 2024 and joined the Department of Orthopaedics in July 2024. In February 2025, I stepped into the role of HR and Administrative Assistant.
Can you summarize what you do in the Department?
In my role as the HR and Administrative Assistant, I support both HR and administrative tasks for the Department of Orthopaedics. I assist in initiating and coordinating staff, students and faculty appointments, reappointments, and promotions while keeping HR records organized and up to date. I coordinate meetings, process financial transactions, and help keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. I also assist with communications and special projects. It’s a dynamic role that lets me collaborate with different teams, and I genuinely enjoy being part of such a supportive and friendly environment that contributes to our success!
What is your favorite thing about working in the Department?
I enjoy the variety of tasks and the opportunity to learn something new every day. Plus, the supportive and friendly environment makes a big difference. Everyone is always willing to help and support each other, creating a great atmosphere that’s both positive and collaborative.
What is one interesting fact about you that people may not know?
Besides my experience in HR, I also have a background in interior architecture, which I studied professionally. I love designing and creating new living spaces!
What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I love spending quality time with family and friends. I like to spend most of my time outdoors, exploring nature and discovering new places. While I enjoy winter and snowy days (especially for making snow angels!), I’m definitely a fall girl at heart. I also enjoy team workouts, and TRX is my favorite type of exercise. When it comes to entertainment, I prefer watching movies over TV series—I like knowing the ending sooner rather than waiting through multiple episodes!
