The UBC Department of Orthopaedics is delighted to announce that Dr. Jeff Potter and Dr. Lisa Howard, two of our current faculty members, have undertaken leadership roles within our Department. Guided by our shared vision of “pain-free mobility for all“, the Department continues its journey toward becoming a global center of excellence.
Dr. Jeff Potter, Clinical Assistant Professor, Division of Orthopaedic Trauma, has been appointed to the role of Associate Director, Residency Program. Dr. Potter will join our current Residency Program Director Dr. Fay Leung in aspects of leadership and administration of our Residency Program.
Dr. Potter is an orthopaedic trauma surgeon practicing out of Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a graduate of the UBC Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program and obtained post-graduate training at the Queen’s University Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Fellowship and the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Trauma Fellowship. His current practice focuses on acute management of fractures of the extremities and pelvis, soft tissue injuries about the shoulder and knee, and reconstruction of post-traumatic deformities
Dr. Potter will work closely with our Division Heads, their respective Fellowship Directors, and our educational leads.
Dr. Lisa Howard, Assistant Professor, Division of Lower Limb Reconstruction & Oncology, has been appointed to the role of Program Director, Fellowships. Dr. Howard will provide leadership across Fellowships in the Department and will work closely with our Divisional Fellowship Directors to provide world-class fellowship programs across subspecialties in our Department. Dr. Howard is currently Fellowship Director for the Division of Lower Limb Reconstruction and Oncology, a role she will continue to support.
Dr. Howard is a subspecialist in complex hip and knee arthroplasty reconstruction practicing out of Vancouver, British Columbia. Dr. Howard completed her undergraduate degree at Simon Fraser University and Medical Degree at UBC. She completed her orthopaedic surgery residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and two subspecialty fellowship years in upper extremity at the University of Ottawa and lower limb reconstruction at UBC. Dr. Howard completed her Master’s of Health Science at UBC and is actively involved in clinical research, teaching, and leadership in Orthopaedics.
