Mentorship & Wellness

Cultivating growth, resilience, and wellbeing in orthopaedics

The UBC Orthopaedics Mentorship & Wellness Initiative launched in 2024. This exciting program is designed to uplift our doctors, staff, and learners by fostering a vibrant community of support. Through inspiring mentorship, we create a culture that champions professional growth, encourages personal resilience, and enhances the efficiency of practice. Our goal is to empower every member to reach their full potential, ensuring they experience both professional success and personal fulfillment throughout every stage of their career.

Postures for Professional Fulfillment

UBC Orthopaedics Wellbeing Strategy

At the UBC Orthopaedics, our department’s wellbeing strategy is based on the Stanford WellMD Model. This framework guides our work to support our faculty, trainees, and staff through three essential pillars:

The Stanford WELLMD model

We’re excited to embrace the Stanford Model of Professional Fulfillment as we cultivate a culture of wellness with the Department of Orthopaedics.

This model emphasizes three vital components:

  • Culture of Wellness—rooted in appreciation, peer support, collegiality, and finding meaning in our work
  • Efficiency of Practice
  • Personal Resilience

Think of these elements as the three legs of a stool—if one is missing, the whole thing wobbles and risks toppling over.

What is our UBC Ortho implementation strategy?
