We are pleased to congratulate UBC Orthopaedics Resident, Dr. Mikaela Peters, on receiving funding from the Resident Doctors of BC 2020 Resident Innovation Fund (RIF). The goal of the RIF is to highlight and support residents working to benefit the healthcare system, the lives of patients and healthcare providers. Her research project will explore perceptions of the impact of pregnancy during training on the career of Canadian orthopaedic surgeons. UBC Orthopaedics Associate Professor, Dr. Kelly Lefaivre, is also affiliated with this research as the project’s Principal Investigator. Dr. Peters hopes that this grant will enable her to highlight issues faced by mothers in Orthopaedics in order to promote policies that encourage women to enter and thrive in the field.
