Congratulations to Dr. David Wilson, who has been appointed a Fellow of International Orthopaedic Research (FIOR) by the International Combined Orthopaedic Research Societies (ICORS) International College of Fellows.
A FIOR designation is awarded through a competitive process to international experts in orthopaedic research, a process supported by the UBC Orthopaedics Awards Committee, led by Dr. Tom Oxland.
Dr. Wilson received his FIOR designation at the ICORS World Congress of Orthopaedic Research, which took place in Adelaide, Australia, in October 2025. Fellowships are voted upon by ICORS and its ten global delegate orthopaedic societies and awarded every three years to recognize investigators with more than 15 years’ experience and significant contributions to the field of orthopaedic research.
“To be recognized as a Fellow of International Orthopaedic Research is very meaningful because it’s from people who know my research well and because it’s truly international. I am grateful to be among such distinguished researchers from around the world,” said Dr. Wilson, who joins Dr. Robert McCormack as UBC Orthopaedics faculty members who have been appointed to FIOR.
“A whole bunch of credit goes to the people who do the nominating,” said Dr. Wilson. “I’m very grateful to the awards committee, especially to Tom, who did the heavy lifting. A lot of hard work goes into completing these nominations.”
Dr. Wilson is a Professor and Associate Head, Research, in UBC’s Department of Orthopaedics and an associate member of the School of Biomedical Engineering.
