Dr. Babak Shadgan receives Peter Wall COVID-19 Solutions Award

UBC Orthopaedics Assistant Professor, Dr. Babak Shadgan, was recently named as one of the COVID-19 Wall Solutions award recipients! The COVID-19 Wall Solutions Initiative supports innovative projects aimed towards practical solutions to the COVID-19 pandemic and its consequences to society.

The Wall Solutions project winners demonstrate a wide range of challenging issues being addressed by UBC researchers and their partners, including innovative tools for early detection and diagnosis of COVID-19, improvements to design of PPE, building design and modification for safe reopening, and impacts on immigration detainees and public health communications.

Dr. Shadgan’s research project, Novel Biosensor for screening and early detection of COVID-19 patients in high risk individuals living in long term care homes, targets individuals with the highest rate of mortality when affected by COVID-19. His aim is to develop and test a novel, non-invasive, sensitive and accurate biosensing device, and a simple-to-operate method for regular screening and early diagnosis of patients who are affected by COVID-19 in long-term care facilities.

Congratulations to Dr. Shadgan on an amazing achievement!
